Friends Central School Visit

We recently had a visit by a group of teenagers from Friends Central, organized by Leslie Marie Grace. They came with their transparencies and we showed them how to burn a screen of their artwork. We also let each of the students pull a screen with help from our current intern, Caitlin.

Shelf Life: Homebrewers and Artists Collaboration

UPCOMING SHOW at Masthead

Pennsylvania has born a plethora of homebrewers because of the strict state laws in PA. In response to that, Masthead Print Studio announced that they will be showcasing a collaborative show between 20 homebrewers and artists, designers, illustrators and painters to design labels for these libations. The styles of beer will range from an Expresso Stout to a Pineapple IPA. Artists include: Ben Woodward, Ed Kelley, JP Flexner, Melissa McFeeters, Lucy Price, Shawn Hileman, Robb Leef, Tim Gough, Max Gordon, Aaron Eiland, Erik Hamline, Lydia Nichols, Steven Speir, Kenny Kim, Ryan Johnson, Dan Gneiding, Sam Heimer, Keith Greiman, Danni Sinisi, Jesse Southerland and Dan Knapp.

April 13th at Art Star from 6-8PM

Shawn Hileman’s first solo exhibition at Art Star will include a series of screenprinted abstract landscapes based on the desire to explore the world. The work will take the viewer on a journey that spans from desolate desert to mystical mountain side castles. An illustrated collection of ephemera will accompany the expansive fields of color and texture. With a keen graphic eye and a lust for playful illustration, the prints will feature a symbiotic relationship between paper and ink

Hosted by AID’s Mark Brickey (Hero Design Studio). Mark will be live on location at the gallery to moderate, interview and will attempt to entertain all those in attendance who wish to have their voices finally be heard on the Adventures In Design podcast. His charming co-host, Billy Baumann (Delicious Design League), will be brought to the stage by the power of the internet, the design nerd’s equivalent to a Tupac Shakur hologram. Join us for a historic recording of the world famous Shop Talk; featuring mini sit down interviews and audience questions as the Circle of Trust arrives on the East Coast for the very first time.In addition to the AID shop talk, as part of their East Coast 2012 Fall Tour, Hero Design Studio will have their popup shop open at Masthead for the evening. Displaying over 100 handmade items available for purchase.

Each artist will be making his/her own visual homage to their favorite song in the form of limited edition prints. Masthead and Greyhood Present, “Locals Only”

Masthead Print Studio and Greyhood will be showcasing “Locals Only,” a group show consisting of neon signs inspired by local bars, warm beers and the cold neon glow of hometown bars. The group show will feature pieces from Philadelphia-based designers, illustrators and artists working in the medium of neon.

Artists include Gregg Christman, Julle Frey, Sharon McMullen, Kevin Jackson, Kenny Kim, Kay Sim, Steve DeCusatis, Dan Gneiding, Patrick Macomber and Joel Evey.
